Two little bits of information that you probably don't care to know about, but I'll tell you anyway: 1) Our volleyball team finally won a game! It was ugly for a lot of it, but at least I had a few good sets for kills and I had a kill myself. 2) I bought a router for really cheap at Future Shop. I usually avoid this store, except when I know exactly what I want which was the case. It's so damn easy to setup. I recommend it to anyone trying to setup a network in a home. | Sunday, October 27, 2002
"When I was three, I thought the world revolved around me / I was wrong" - U2, Party Girl Ever since I started school, my schedule has been totally fucked. I go to bed at about the same time that I did while I was working, but there's a problem. I don't seem to be getting up at the same time. It seems that my schedule was shifted a little. I was going to bed a little later, but waking up much later. I was trying to rectify this problem recently be trying to get up earlier. It seems that instead of me having to adapt the world, the world changed for me. Sunday morning at at 1:59am, the clock on my computer magically changed to 1:00am. It was time to "fall back" as they say. When I was twenty-four, the world revolves around me. I want more. | Saturday, October 26, 2002
If you don't already read it, you must go to memepool. Not only does it have interesting links, the most recent link on camels was reported by my friend Justin. | Wednesday, October 23, 2002
Forget what I said, I found a better calculator. Although my fx-4100p still works erratically, my new fx-991MS does everything plus more. I think I'm going to learn to love it. Thank goodness Future Shop has a no hassle 30-day return policy where I returned the inferior fx-300MS that I bought yesterday. | Sunday, October 20, 2002
We were bored in the lab so we decided to pretended to be Benito Mussolini and had the computer guess the dictator or sitcom character. It works with The Fonz and Genghis Khan as well. | I was walking along Spadina after dinner when some drops of rain descended upon my head. I wasn't pleased with change of weather and I muttered to myself, "where is this rain coming from?" The problem is that it wasn't an entirely rhetorical question, I really did wonder where it came from, but then I couldn't stop laughing when the realization hit me. "The sky, of course." | Tuesday, October 15, 2002
Oh dearly beloved. Casio fx-4100p has been a friend of mine for more than half my life. In the days of elementary school, I barely knew you and the power you held. It was not until high school with expanding using FOIL and factoring did I discover your greatness. Verifying that two expression were equal was trivial with your variables. And I only touched upon your power. I discovered that I could store a formula for both solutions to the quadratic equation. Later on the cross-product and dot-product of a three dimensional vector could be solved simply by entering the numbers into my stored formula. And the power of recursion and solving infinite sums. I will never forget your contributions to my achieving in the upper-nineties in all my high school in math classes. Alas, it when I entered university that your weakness showed. The number crunching was replaced with strange Greek letters and my marks began to fall. Soon you were relegated to simply solving copious calculations where the formula was derived by hand and my dependence on you faded. My dear fx-4100p, I feel this may be why you have decided to die when I entered grad school. Perhaps your year off was too boring. I shall never know. I can only wish that you were still with me to see me go on and obtain my next degree. So long dear friend. RIP. | |
